Our canvas bag production serves the broadest buyer base of any single-fabric category — fashion brands, promotional companies, eco labels, grocery chains, Amazon sellers, and corporate buyers all source canvas bags from our Guangzhou factory.

Canvas spans more bag types, more price tiers, and more buyer segments than any other fabric — from 4oz promotional giveaway totes to 18oz waxed canvas weekender duffles. Five characteristics make canvas the fabric buyers return to again and again.

4oz to 18oz — the most granular weight-classification system of any bag fabric. Each weight tier serves a different product, price point, and buyer segment. No other fabric offers this range from a single material family.

Flat weave, natural fiber absorption, and smooth surface make cotton canvas the best print substrate in the bag industry. Silk screen, heat transfer, digital, UV, and embroidery all perform optimally on canvas.

Cotton canvas is natural, biodegradable, and available in organic and recycled variants. Instant eco-credibility without complex certification. The default fabric for sustainability-positioned bag lines and plastic bag replacement.

Paraffin or beeswax coating creates water-resistant, heritage-aesthetic canvas that commands 2–3× the price of untreated canvas. Develops patina over time. Turns a $15 tote into a $60 weekender with one material upgrade.

Canvas is used across more bag types than any other fabric — totes, backpacks, crossbodies, duffles, buckets, lunch bags. No single fabric spans this many categories.
Canvas is the only fabric that works across every bag category in our catalog. Here are the eight most ordered canvas bag types — each links to its dedicated product page for full specifications.

The #1 canvas bag format worldwide. 4oz–16oz cotton canvas, open-top or zip-top, self-fabric or webbing handles. Screen-printed, embroidered, or digital-printed. Promotional, retail, and eco applications.

12oz–18oz cotton or waxed canvas backpacks with leather trim, padded straps, and laptop sleeve. Rolltop, drawstring, or flap closure. Vintage and heritage aesthetic for lifestyle brands.

10oz–14oz cotton canvas messenger or compact crossbody. Adjustable strap, flap or zip closure. Screen-printed artwork or embroidered logo. For lifestyle brands, artisan labels, and Amazon sellers.

14oz–18oz cotton or waxed canvas weekender with leather handles and trim. The heritage/vintage travel bag format. Premium positioning for lifestyle and travel brands.

10oz–14oz cotton canvas bucket with drawstring or toggle closure. Unstructured, casual, artisan aesthetic. For contemporary fashion brands, boutique retail, and eco labels.

10oz–14oz cotton canvas hobo, flap, or tote-style shoulder bag. Self-fabric or leather strap. For lifestyle, artisan, and casual-fashion brands.

10oz–12oz cotton canvas outer with insulated PEVA lining. Fashion-forward “doesn’t look like a lunch bag” format for office professionals and lifestyle brands.

8oz–12oz cotton canvas zip pouch. Screen-printed or embroidered. Gift-set staple, promotional giveaway, and Amazon bestseller. Overlaps with pouch clutch market.
Canvas weight is the single most important sourcing decision. It determines the bag’s durability, structure, printability, production cost, and retail price tier. Choosing the wrong weight for your product is the most common canvas-bag sourcing mistake.
4–6 oz
Lightweight
Thin, foldable, lowest cost. For promotional giveaway totes, trade show bags, and reusable shopping bags. 1–2 color silk screen. Flat-packs at extreme density. Retail: $2–8. Highest volume tier — 10,000+ pcs common.
8–10 oz
Standard
The sweet spot for retail totes and everyday bags. Good print surface, moderate durability, self-fabric handles hold up to daily use. Multi-color print, embroidery. Retail: $8–20. The most popular canvas weight for Amazon FBA sellers.
12–14 oz
Heavy-Duty
Stiff enough to hold shape, durable enough for daily commute and work use. Crossbodies, backpacks, bucket bags, and structured totes. Leather-trimmed at this tier. Retail: $20–50. For fashion and lifestyle brands.
16–18 oz
Premium / Waxed
Maximum durability and structure. Waxed canvas adds water resistance and heritage patina. Duffles, backpacks, tool bags, and premium totes. Leather handles standard. Retail: $40–120+. For premium, heritage, and outdoor brands.

Canvas is the #1 print substrate in the bag industry because its flat weave, natural fiber structure, and smooth surface accept ink, dye, and thread better than any synthetic fabric. We produce canvas bags using all six major print/finish methods — and recommend the right one based on your artwork complexity, canvas weight, and budget.
Beyond printing, canvas accepts wax coating, enzyme washing, garment dyeing, and stone washing — finish treatments that transform basic cotton canvas into premium-feel, heritage-aesthetic products at marginal cost increase.
Silk Screen
1–6 spot colors. Sharpest edges, most durable adhesion, lowest per-unit cost at volume. Works on all canvas weights. The standard method for promotional and single-logo canvas bags. We recommend silk screen as the default for orders over 500 pcs.
Heat Transfer
Full-color CMYK, photo-quality. Transfer film pressed onto canvas surface. Ideal for complex graphics, gradients, and photographic images. Works best on 8oz+ canvas. Higher per-unit cost than silk screen; lower setup cost for short runs.
Digital / DTG
Direct-to-garment or direct-to-fabric printing. Unlimited colors, edge-to-edge coverage possible. Best for art prints, limited editions, and personalized bags. Works on natural-color cotton canvas (white or undyed). No minimum order quantity for print setup.
Embroidery
Thread count: 5,000–50,000 stitches typical. Premium tactile branding. Works on 10oz+ canvas (lighter weights pucker). Best for logos, monograms, and small-area designs. Machine embroidery for volume; hand-embroidery available for artisan lines.
Wax Coating
Paraffin or beeswax impregnation. Creates water-resistant, heritage-aesthetic canvas. Develops patina over time. Applied to 14oz–18oz canvas. Commands 2–3× the price of untreated canvas. Available in natural, olive, tan, navy, black.
Washing / Dyeing
Enzyme wash, stone wash, garment dyeing, pigment dyeing. Creates a soft, lived-in hand feel on finished bags. Works on 10oz+ canvas. Adds vintage aesthetic at marginal cost. Pantone color matching on garment-dyed canvas available.

FY Bag Custom operates its own vertically integrated factory in Guangzhou — design, sampling, cutting, sewing, printing, wax-coating, and QC all under one roof. Canvas bags are our highest-volume fabric category, and our in-house printing capability (silk screen, heat transfer, digital, UV, embroidery) means we control print quality directly on the canvas surface.
Our canvas bag production shares production lines with every bag type in our catalog — totes, backpacks, crossbodies, duffles, and more — which means we bring cross-category construction knowledge to every canvas project.

Pre-Shipment Inspection
Canvas bags face fabric-specific QC risks — canvas weight variance, print adhesion failure, color drift on dyed canvas, wax-coating unevenness, and handle-to-body stitch failure under load. Our 6-stage QC targets each one. Third-party inspections (SGS, BV, TUV) welcome.

Canvas weight (oz/GSM), weave density, color match, and surface defects verified against approved swatches. Waxed canvas tested for coating evenness and water-resistance. Print inks tested for adhesion and colorfastness on the specific canvas batch.

PPS delivered in 5–7 days with finished printing/embroidery on final production canvas. Mass production starts only after your written sign-off on canvas weight, color, print quality, and handle construction.

Print position, color accuracy (Pantone match), ink coverage, edge sharpness, and adhesion spot-checked on every print run. Multi-color registrations verified piece by piece on first 50 units. Embroidery stitch density and thread tension checked.

Handle attachment method verified (bar-tack, X-stitch, rivet). Handle pull-tested for load tolerance. Seam strength, gusset alignment, and closure function spot-checked. Canvas grain direction verified on all pattern pieces.

Every finished canvas bag inspected one by one — canvas surface, print quality, handle attachment, body shape, closure, lining, label placement. Not sampled, not skipped.

Flat-packed or individually polybag-packed per spec. Container loading photos and videos sent within 24 hours. Carton counts, seal numbers, and shipping marks documented.
