Our Oxford bag production serves the broadest utility-buyer base in the fabric category — from school bag distributors to medical equipment companies to food delivery platforms.

When the job is to organize, protect, and survive daily rough use — not to make a fashion statement — Oxford is the fabric buyers reach for. Tougher than plain polyester, cheaper than nylon, and water-resistant by default. Five advantages define Oxford’s position.

A distinctive crosshatch surface created by weaving two yarns in an over-under pattern. Visible to the eye, tactile to the touch, more refined than plain weave. The texture IS Oxford’s visual identity — buyers recognize it instantly.

Oxford comes pre-coated (PU or PVC on the back face). Unlike plain polyester where coating is an add-on, Oxford is sold coated. Water resistance is the default, not an upgrade — simplifying the sourcing spec.

The basketweave distributes stress across two interlocking yarn directions — better tear and abrasion performance than plain weave at the same denier. This makes Oxford the choice for bags facing daily rough use.

Oxford dominates the functional bag market: tool bags, medical kits, equipment organizers, laptop cases, delivery bags, school bags. When the bag’s job is to organize and protect — not to make a fashion statement — Oxford is the spec.

“600D Oxford” is the most universally understood bag fabric specification in the industry. Every supplier, every factory, every buyer knows exactly what it means. Shortest lead times, most competitive pricing, most consistent quality.
Oxford fabric dominates the functional and utility bag market. Here are the eight most ordered Oxford bag products — each benefits from Oxford’s basketweave durability and built-in water resistance.

600D Oxford outer with PEVA/EPE insulation lining. Water-resistant exterior protects insulated contents. For kitchenware brands and Amazon. See: all lunch bags.

600D–900D PVC-coated Oxford with reinforced base, elastic tool loops, multi-pocket panels, and padded handle. For professional tool brands, electricians, plumbers, and field technicians. A product category unique to Oxford.

600D Oxford gym duffle with shoe compartment, wet-dry separation, and PU coating. More structured than plain polyester; better abrasion resistance for daily gym use.

600D–900D Oxford insulated delivery bag with reinforced base, Velcro or zip closure, and reflective strips. Water-resistant Oxford outer critical for rain-exposure delivery. See: commercial delivery bags.

600D Oxford laptop sleeve, messenger, or briefcase with padded device compartment, organizer pockets, and trolley sleeve. The standard B2B laptop bag for corporate and wholesale buyers.

600D Oxford with internal organizer panels, elastic loops, clear-window pockets, and cross-body strap. For medical supply brands, emergency services, and workplace safety kits. Red, blue, black, or custom color.

900D Oxford duffle with trolley sleeve, multiple compartments, and PU-coated water resistance. The mid-tier travel bag spec for sportswear and travel accessory brands.
Oxford is specified by two variables: denier (yarn thickness = durability) and coating (water resistance level). The combination determines the fabric’s performance and cost. “600D PU-coated Oxford” is the single most ordered specification in the utility bag industry.
300D
PU-Coated
Lighter weight, lower cost, good for organizer pouches, cosmetic bags, and pencil cases. PU coating standard. Adequate for daily light use — not for heavy-load or high-abrasion applications. Retail: $5–15.
420D
PU-Coated
The entry-level for structured bags. Good for lunch bags, small backpacks, and light-duty organizers. PU coating standard. A step up from 300D in durability and structure without significant cost increase. Retail: $8–20.
600D
PU or PVC
The most ordered Oxford spec globally. Backpacks, gym bags, lunch bags, tool bags, laptop bags, delivery bags. PU coating for standard water resistance; PVC coating for heavy-duty. The spec that every buyer knows. Retail: $10–35.
900D
PU or PVC
Maximum durability for travel duffles, tool bags, equipment cases, and commercial delivery bags. PU or PVC coating. For professional and commercial applications where daily abrasion is severe. Retail: $25–60+.

Oxford’s three defining technical characteristics — basketweave structure, back-face coating, and enhanced abrasion resistance — interact to create a fabric that outperforms plain polyester in demanding applications while costing less than nylon. We spec all three at the sampling stage.
The key procurement question is “polyester Oxford or nylon Oxford?” — and “PU coating or PVC coating?” We guide buyers through both decisions based on target performance, market, and budget.
Weave Structure
Basketweave (also called “Oxford weave”) — two warp yarns woven with one or two fill yarns in an over-under pattern. Creates visible crosshatch texture and distributes stress across both yarn directions for enhanced tear resistance vs. plain weave.
Base Fiber
Polyester Oxford (most common, lower cost, better color consistency) or nylon Oxford (premium, lighter weight, better abrasion, softer hand feel). Polyester Oxford accounts for roughly 85% of the market; nylon Oxford is used for premium outdoor and travel applications.
PU Coating
Polyurethane back-face coating, 0.3mm–1.0mm. Standard water resistance. Flexible, lightweight, breathable relative to PVC. The default coating for everyday Oxford bags: backpacks, lunch bags, laptop bags. Does not face EU REACH restrictions.
PVC Coating
PVC back-face coating — heavier, more rigid, fully waterproof. Maximum water and abrasion protection. For heavy-duty tool bags, delivery bags, and outdoor equipment. Faces EU REACH phthalate restrictions — PU recommended for EU-market products.
Printing
Screen print (1–6 colors, most popular), heat transfer (full-color), embroidery (premium logos). Polyester Oxford also accepts sublimation for all-over-print designs. Screen print is the standard for utility and branded Oxford bags.
Abrasion Rating
Oxford weave outperforms plain weave by approximately 15–25% in Martindale abrasion testing at the same denier. The basketweave’s dual-direction yarn structure distributes friction across more contact points, extending surface life under daily rough use.

Pre-Shipment Inspection
Oxford bags face coating-specific QC risks — coating adhesion failure, water-resistance degradation at seams, denier weight variance, and basketweave pattern inconsistency. Our 6-stage QC targets each one. Third-party inspections (SGS, BV, TUV) welcome.

Denier weight (GSM), basketweave pattern consistency, coating type and thickness verified. Water-resistance drip-tested on incoming fabric. Color match confirmed against approved Pantone swatch.

PPS delivered in 5–7 days with final Oxford grade, coating, and construction. Mass production starts only after your written sign-off on fabric weight, texture, water resistance, and overall build.

Coating adhesion spot-checked on production rolls. Water-resistance verified by surface drip test on first 50 units. Screen print position, color accuracy, and adhesion on coated Oxford surface verified.

Seam strength tested on coated Oxford (coated fabrics require adjusted sewing tension). Zipper pull-tested. Buckle cycle-tested. Handle and strap anchor points load-tested. Internal organizer pockets checked.

Every finished Oxford bag inspected one by one — fabric texture, coating integrity, water resistance, zipper, hardware, construction, label placement. Not sampled, not skipped.

Individually polybag-packed or flat-packed per spec. Container loading photos and videos sent within 24 hours. Carton counts and shipping marks documented.

Straight answers to the questions bulk-order buyers ask most often about custom Oxford bag production.
Oxford uses a basketweave (crosshatch) structure that provides approximately 15–25% better abrasion and tear resistance than plain-weave polyester at the same denier. Oxford also comes pre-coated (PU or PVC) as standard, whereas plain polyester is often sold uncoated. The visible basketweave texture gives Oxford a more refined appearance.
300D for lightweight organizers and pouches. 420D for lunch bags and light-duty bags. 600D for virtually everything — the industry standard for backpacks, gym bags, tool bags, and delivery bags. 900D for heavy-duty professional and commercial applications. When in doubt, 600D PU-coated is the default.
PU (polyurethane) coating is lighter, more flexible, and adequate for everyday water resistance — the default for most Oxford bags. PVC coating is heavier, more rigid, and fully waterproof — used for heavy-duty tool bags and delivery bags exposed to rain. PVC faces EU REACH phthalate restrictions; PU does not.
Yes. Nylon Oxford exists and is premium — lighter weight per denier, softer hand feel, better abrasion resistance than polyester Oxford. Nylon Oxford costs more and is used for premium outdoor and travel bags. Polyester Oxford accounts for roughly 85% of the market and is our default recommendation.
Oxford bags have among the most flexible MOQs in the industry because 600D Oxford is the most widely stocked bag fabric globally. Simple formats have the lowest MOQs; complex multi-compartment organizers have higher MOQs. Contact us with your product and quantity for a specific confirmation.
