Insulation & Food-Safe Lining Engineering
A lunch bag’s thermal performance is determined by three layers: outer fabric, insulation core, and inner lining. We engineer all three at the sampling stage — insulation thickness, seam sealing method, and lining material are matched to your target hold time and market requirements.
The difference between a bag that keeps food cold for 2 hours and one that holds for 6 hours is insulation thickness (3mm vs. 8mm EPE foam) and seam quality (stitched vs. heat-sealed). We get these specs right before your first production run — because a lunch bag that can’t hold temperature gets returned.
Insulation Types
Aluminum foil laminate (standard), EPE foam (3mm, 5mm, 8mm), PEVA thermal layer, PE foam + foil composite. Thicker foam = longer hold time. EPE 8mm holds temperature 4–6 hours with ice packs.
Inner Lining
PEVA (food-safe, BPA-free), food-grade aluminum foil, coated polyester. PEVA is the industry standard for food-contact lunch bags. Wipeable, leak-resistant, FDA-compliant. Custom lining color available.
Seam Sealing
Heat-sealed seams (best leak resistance), stitched + taped seams, stitched + silicone-sealed. Heat-sealed is standard for premium lunch bags. Stitched seams are lower cost but may leak at stress points over time.
Leak-Proofing
Sealed bottom seam, waterproof lining up to 5cm sidewall, reinforced corner gussets. Designed to contain spills from open containers, ice-pack condensation, and drips. Leak-through to outer fabric is a QC failure.
Easy-Clean
Wipeable PEVA/foil interior (standard), removable liner insert (premium), machine-washable outer shell (select fabrics). Interior must withstand daily wipe-cleaning for 6–12 months without delamination.
Closure Types
Zip-top (best thermal seal), drawstring, Velcro flap, magnetic snap, dual-zip. Zip closure retains temperature longer than open/flap designs. Double zipper with insulated flap is the premium configuration.
